The concert begins with an unusual two-verse version of the Star Spangled Banner performed by the band with colors presented by the WSU Marching Band Color Guard. After the opening ceremony, the next work in the program will be "Lithuanian Rhapsody," composed by Thomas Root. This composition is based on short Lithuanian folk songs spun out into a lengthy and often dramatic work, ending with the Lithuanian national anthem.
