The Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation is pleased to announce its plans for the next international piano competitions to take place in Salt Lake City, Utah June 2012.

The International Young Artists Piano Competition for ages 14-18 and the International Junior Piano Competition for ages 11-13 offer a combined total of $50,000, medals, and CD recordings as prizes. These competitions for younger pianists are held on consecutive weeks during the same year.

In total, more than 1,000 pianists from 40 countries have competed in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competitions, and cash prizes totaling more than $500,000 have been awarded.

Past winners of these competitions have been recognized by being accepted to many international music conservatories, as well as being named laureates of the Bachauer International Young Artists and Junior Competitions. They are now enjoying worldwide attention for their artistry and developing careers, and each has now established successful international reputations.

Eugene Watanabe, was the Gold Medalist in the First Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition held in 1987. He then went on to distinguish himself as a laureate in the Honens International Piano Competition of Calgary, Canada and has distinguished himself with performances with the Utah Symphony.
