A reading of BLOCK 8, which enjoyed a sold-out, world-premiere run at Plan-B in 2009 as the centerpiece of Day of Remembrance events. The play centers on Ken, a young Japanese man struggling with the decision to enlist in the military to prove his loyalty as an American. During his time at Topaz, the Japanese internment camp in Delta, he befriends Ada, the camp's librarian whose son is fighting overseas. The two form an unlikely mother-son relationship as they try to make sense of the upheaval in their everyday lives.
