Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor taught by Rebecca Mann
March 23, 30, April 6, 13, and 27, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Artists will enchance theirs skills at the instruction of this experienced artist. Class will emphasize shape, value, color, edge and composition. Please come to the first class prepared with the supplies you have on hand. Further discussion of materials will be held during the first class. $70.
Introduction to Sculpture taught by Mike Call
March 17 - May 19, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Learn the basics of sculpting from this very talented artist. Working from plaster casts, students will produce a series of smaller sculpting projects including a still life, the human hand and face with an emphasis on facial features. $140 + $15 Supply Fee.
Beginning Jewelry Making taught by Reba Rauch
March 17 - April 21, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
This class will cover the basics of making necklaces, bracelets and earrings from purchased beads (semi-precious, glass, porcelain, metal, etc.) and jewelry components. Learn how to design and string your creations, then add clasps and/or pendants and finish the piece. Students will complete one necklace, one memory wire bracelet, and one pair of earrings during the class. A supply list will be available and students will be expected to provide their own supplies. You will leave this class with the essentials to experiment and make jewelry on your own. $75.
Landscape Oil Painting taught by Diane Turner
March 24 - April 21, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
This class is designed for advanced artists who would like to hone their painting skills with this excellent teacher. Register early to ensure a space in this popular class. Please bring a reference to the first class from which to paint. $70.
Figure Study coordinated by Thayne Wheeler
Wednesdays, ongoing, 7:00 - 9:30 pm
Back by popular demand, this open forum of drawing from life will give artists an opportunity to work alongside their peers. Models will be provided and there is no formal instruction. Serious artists only. Students must be 18 years old in order to register for this class. Please call or email BDAC in advance to reserve your place. $30/5 classes or $7 drop in.
Head Painting in Oil taught by Chris Thornock
March 19 - April 30, no class April 9, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
This class will help artists of all levels develop strong observation, drawing and painting skills, focusing on the human figure, specifically the head. Students should expect to complete one or two head paintings over the six week course. Topics that will be covered include preparing painting supports, drawing and block in, under-painting, and finishing a work. In class disscussion and practice of traditional painting techniques including compostition, value and color. A list of materials will be available. Please come prepared with all materials to first class. Drawing experience not necessary but is preferred. $75 + $10 model fee.
Basic Book Design & Binding taught by Nathan Gardner
March 19 - April 23, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Discover the lost art of book making with this very skilled artist. Nathan will guide you through the process of designing, building, and binding a journal style book. Students will be able to finish at least one book in the duration of this 6 week course. A supply list will be available but come prepared with 50 sheets of copy paper and a posterboard to first class to get started. No need to spend a lot on materials for the first class; as the course progresses, students will move on to better quality and more archival materials will be introduced. $75.
Figure Sculpture taught by Mike Call
March 21 - May 23, 10:00 AM - noon
Learn the great art of sculpting the human figure from this very qualified artist. Emphasis will be placed on anatomy, proportion, gesture, and drapery. Students will be working on 20” - 30” figures, sculpting from a live costumed model. $140 + $30 Supply Fee + $30 model fee.
Sculpture Casting Workshop taught by Mike Call
March 21 - May 23, 1:00 - 2:30PM
Designed for students with finished sculpture pieces, ready to cast. Each workshop will allow time for the student to consult with the instructor on materials and methods, giving individualized instruction in relation to their specific piece. Students can expect to spend anywhere from $50 to $250 on materials and may need to attend several casting workshops depending on the complexity of their piece. $15 per Class (Workshops will be available for 10 weeks).
