The Madeleine Festival of the Arts and Humanities was formally instituted in 1988 by then cathedral rector Msgr. M. Francis Mannion. A wide variety of musical, dance, visual arts and humanities events comprise the festival. It is funded by grants from the Utah Arts Council, Salt Lake County Zoo Arts and Parks, The Salt Lake City Arts Council, corporate and foundation support, and the support of private individuals in the community. Tonight's event includes works by Antonio Vivaldi, Guiseppe Verdi, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and more.
