Add Review/CommentThe Salt Lake Symphony presents a concert of varied pieces on Saturday, April 19th, 7:30 pm at the Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the President's Circle, University of Utah campus. Guest conductor Gerald Elias leads the orchestra in the Overture to Richard Wagner's comedic opera, 'die Meistersinger von Nurnberg'. Written by 2 flautist brothers, the Doppler Concerto for Two Flutes features internationally acclaimed flutist, Sergio Pallottelli our own Susan Goodfellow, professor of flute at the University of Utah. Beethoven said, 'I will grapple with fate; it shall not overcome me.' Many composers have tried to depict this sentiment, but none have been so successful as Beethoven in his Symphony No. 5 in C minor. The famous 'fate knocking' theme is initially introduced and the symphony passes from c minor to C major symbolizing Mankind's struggle to achieve ultimate victory.
