A Celebration of Reading and Writing in Moab began in 2007 to resurrect Canyonlands Field Institute's Desert Writers Workshop, which ran for 19 years through 2004. Today, it is combined with other local literary events. Each year, Confluence chooses a literary theme or author upon which to focus, and for 2008, it is Edward Abbey. This community celebration relishes the power and joy of the written word with myriad events to tickle your fancy. Enjoy keynote speeches and readings from guest authors, panel discussions about issues of the West, children's art opportunities, gallery art openings, storytelling, and much much more. 2008 Guest Authors include Craig Childs, Doug Peacock, Jack Loeffler, Amy Irvine McHarg, Andrea Peacock, Katie Lee, John Macker, Maria Melendez, Chip Blake, and more. Event Location: Events take place in several locations throughout Moab: Moab Arts and Recreation Center, Grand County Public Library, Star Hall, and Moab Information Center.
