Brittany Powell is a Portland based installation artist. She will create a site specific installation in the main gallery of the Kimball Art Center depicting a succession of wall-size pages from the West Elm catalogue. Powell entirely covers the painted walls with contact paper, and, afterwards, cuts detailed designs through with an exacto knife. Making the mass-produced into something unique and irreproducible Powell removes the act of commerce from the images. Opening Reception: A Gala Opening and Artist reception will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Saturday, August 16.
