Native Species: The George R. Stroemple Collection
November 1, 2008-January 8, 2009
Join the Kimball Art Center for an exhibition reception on Thursday, December 4 from 5:00pm-7:00pm for the opening of the exhibit, Native Species, featuring the work of artist William Morris. In addition, all are invited to a screening of the William Morris documentary, Creative Nature, with filmmaker John Andres at 7:30pm. $5 tickets to the screening are available for purchase at the Kimball Art Center and Treasure Mountain Inn. Morris has contributed some of the most extraordinary work in the contemporary studio glass movement, and his work is now available for you to see at the Kimball Art Center. A collaboration between Morris and art collector George Stroemple, Native Species embodies the artist and the collector's shared respect for the profound beauty of the natural world. 'I like to think my work reflects my impressions of art as well as nature seen through time,' explains William Morris, one of the top artists in the contemporary glass field. Morris' design reflects the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest fused with the influences of 19th-century French art nouveau and Japanese Meiji ceramics. The results of Morris' love of nature and high degree of craftsmanship are glass works of a rare, intricate and subtle beauty.

I love the new exhibit. It reminds me of the 1950s and 60s. It is true pop art. Fresh take on old ideas. Love it!!!
