The Davis Arts Council's (DAC) mission is to enrich the community through the power of the arts via creative expression, excellence, and accessibility. Celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2009, Davis Arts Council's vision is to become the leading community arts organization in Utah by 2020. The Davis Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is independent of but partnered with Layton City and seeks to serve the residents of Layton City, Davis County, Weber County, and beyond! A volunteer board of trustees along with a full-time executive director, two full-time staff, and (most importantly) hundreds of volunteers ensure that DAC can continue to serve anyone believing that arts, culture, and creativity to be primary building blocks of civilization and vital to happiness. In 1995, DAC partnered with Layton City, private donors, and business sponsors to build the intimate Edward A. Kenley Centennial Amphitheater, nestled in the heart of the stunningly beautiful Layton Commons Park. Acquiring this venue inaugurated the first of DAC's Summer Nights with the Stars season. Other programming offered by DAC includes the Free Sunday Night Concert Series, Arts in the Park, a partnership for children with Layton City, Active Stages, community theatrical productions, a visual arts gallery (forthcoming), and adult and children's educational/cultural workshops.
