Hale Centre Theatre

Hale Centre Theatre has been operating in Utah since 1985 with tremendous support from local audiences. The Theatre sees over 230,000 patrons through its doors each year and has a dedicated season ticket base of more than 19,500. Each season it produces seven productions including dramas, comedies, and musicals. The productions are cast entirely from within the community using local artists who share their talents as a pastime rather than a profession. The Theatre's productions and programs are supported by many generous individuals, corporations, and foundations throughout the community.

Father goes broke. But Father's real loss is his little girl. Funny even raucous but good golly Miss Molly this pulls on the old heart strings. A comedic gem by Caroline Francke.

    08/15/12- 09/29/12	9 to 5 the Musical Hale Centre Theatre 9 to 5 the Musical Presented by Hale Centre Theatre at Hale Centre Theatre August 15-September 29, 2012 Dolly Parton's sparkling musical comedy garnered 4 Tony nominations. A showstopper, plenty of sassy tunes and soul-filled ballads, plenty of laughter, plenty of heart! This full musical remake of the iconic movie is just plain fun, three unlikely friends conspire to take over the company. Music and lyrics by the irrepressible Dolly Parton.

Presented by Hale Centre Theatre at Hale Centre Theatre October 10-December 1, 2012 Fresh from its recent London revival, Charles Dickens' treasured tale of the orphan boy sings with marvelous music Where is Love, As Long As He Needs Me, Lionel Bart's book, music and lyrics stir the spirit and teach that each child is a gift and that love is the yearning of the soul.

      A serviceable production, but certainly nothing to go out of your way for. It is 90% sword fights, and they are laughably choreographed. Apparently the fight choreographer thinks grunts and yells can... Expand

      A serviceable production, but certainly nothing to go out of your way for. It is 90% sword fights, and they are laughably choreographed. Apparently the fight choreographer thinks grunts and yells can substitute for actually teaching fencing, because these battles have more grunts than a Connors/Becker tennis match. At least the set doesn't get in the way this time, but it is still clunky, delaying the action while it moves slowly into place. When will Hale learn to rely more on acting and less on expensive technical prowess. Well, when you're spending Other People's Money... Bradford Garrison was excellent as the King, and Elise Groves as D'Artagnan's newly invented (and somewhat distracting) sister Sabine provides some intensity. Great costumes, excellent court dance, many of the elements of great theater. We all know the plot, so it was easy to follow, but there was just too much emphasis on noisy swashbuckling. Collapse

This is a favorite of mine and I felt that it was handled very well. Die-hard pimpies beware: They HAVE taken some liberties to "clean up" some of the lyrics that may leave you a bit dissappointed. The storyline for "Big," though not Hale's fault, is pretty weak and just doesn't stand up to the spectacle that was the movie. But for the reasonable cost, it was a simple, well done musical with charming performances (I saw the Wednesday night cast). Collapse
