In 2001 the resolution to establish ICC as a non profit independent but wholly owned subsidiary of the Sri Ganesha Hindu Temple was passed by the then Board of Directors. Annual Galas since 1999 and the active Grant request proposals since 2003 raised the initial funds towards this cause. ICC has been, for the past several years, organizing cultural programs of high quality (such as the recent "Ekaantha Seetha" event etc). They have, through this legacy of outstanding events, drawn the attention of the local organizations, the University of Utah and Salt Lake community at large Their mission is to promote and preserve the educational and socio-cultural traditions of people of Asian Indian ethnic heritage, Indo-Americans and Friends of India and to organize and develop charitable, social, cultural and educational activities of interest to them; to build a center for hosting cultural events which showcase the heritage of India and South Asia; and to establish funding for the continued upkeep and functioning of this Center, while preserving the sanctity and spirit of its surroundings.
