The Children's Theatre

The Children's Theatre is Utah's premiere theatre for young audiences. The mission of the organization is "Inspiring children to cultivate creativity through the theatrical arts." Founded by the Parker family in 1986, The Children's Theatre enters it's 25th season of productions in downtown Salt Lake City. The Children's Theatre has three main programs. One, performances for the public with actors who are age appropriate to the characters that are portrayed. Second, a drama school with acting classes, summer camps and Youth Stage a performance based class. Last, the theatre performs shows at its location during the weekdays for the elementary age student from schools around the state.

    The Journey of Johnny Appleseed The Children's Theatre The Journey of Johnny Appleseed Presented by The Children's Theatre at The Children's Theatre January 13-February 4, 2012 Johnny Appleseed, born John Chapman, was an American pioneer nurseryman who introduced apple trees to large parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. He became an American legend while still alive, largely because of his kind and generous ways, his great leadership in conservation, and the symbolic importance he attributed to apples.

      It is difficult to run shows for families in Utah as a large majority of the population does not engage in activities outside the home Sundays for religious reasons. It would also be difficult for some actors and staff for the same reasons. While not everyone involved including audience has reasons not to attend theatre on Sundays, it is enough to prevent our organization from scheduling them. Collapse
