    Fort Douglas Military Museum

Established October 26, 1862, this was the home to U.S. Army troops until October 26, 1991 when the post was deactivated and most of it turned over to the University of Utah. The University has built a number of different types of facilities on the Fort Douglas grounds, including a massive student housing complex. The student housing area was used as the Athletes' Village during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The museum stores icons of the fort's history and significance within the Utah and greater Salt Lake area.

Portions of Fort Douglas continue to serve U.S. military forces as headquarters, training, or support for various reserve and National Guard components, including the 96th Regional Support Command, the Utah National Guard, U.S. Naval Reserve and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

    Hours: Tuesday-Friday 12:00pm-5:00pm, Saturday 12:00pm-4:00pm

A year ago Brian Jackson Fetzer invited me to collaborate with him in order to bring to Utah audiences the mysterious and factual account of John Baptiste, the Salt Lake City grave robber whose crimes were discovered in 1862. My research has uncovered many of the known facts as well as the haunting possibilities that John’s spirit still haunts the shores of the Great Salt Lake. Join us at 7:00 PM at the Post Theatre for "Sherlock Holmes Lives" and hear the “Lady in Black’s” regretful and revealing report. Collapse
