The Gallivan Center
The John W. Gallivan Utah Center is furnished with an array of unique art projects, an amphitheater, an ice rink and pond, a huge outdoor chess board, and an aviary. Its inviting atmosphere is complemented with performance areas of all sizes, lots of seating, intimate spaces and vantage points that make the center a comfortable and fun place to enjoy the activities, casual strolling or "people watching."
The Gallivan Center provides a focal point for the downtown crowd to gather for lunch or a short reprieve from the day's hectic work schedule. Special events such as exhibits, fairs, performances, parades, festivals and holiday celebrations make the John W. Gallivan Utah Center a lively and exciting gathering place year-round.
During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the Gallivan Center was one of the busiest hotspots in downtown.
The Gallivan Center is owned by the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City Public Services has partnered with the RDA to provide the management, programming and maintenance. Both entities are working toward establishing a public urban area that has the versatility to provide a recreational, educational and vocational site for families and individuals of all ages.-

"Young at Heart!"

It's wonderful to see seniors with such energy and excitement! They are fun to watch and very good together. Seems they are enjoying themselves too!

I've enjoyed Lunch Bunch entertainment at noon for several years. I love the wide variety of performing artists to look forward to! I especially enjoy Michael Lucarelli's Classical Guitar, Gary Stoddard, Young At Heart Line Dancers, and the envigorating and amusing storytelling--such as Karl Behling delivered on July 15th. I loved (LOVED!) his portrayal of "Old Dry Fry!" We storytellers learn from each other! We all look forward to the rest of this marvelous season of sunshine and celebration! Remember! Young At Heart dances on August 4th and September 4th too. Rachel Hedman, of the Utah Storytelling Guild, is the Storyteller on September 5th -- who knows what surprises she'll have in store! Thanks to the Gallivan Center staff for making this all happen for us -- especially Tat'yana and Daniel too. Collapse
