First incorporated in 1987, the Moab Arts Council has grown and adapted to meet the ever-growing interest in and need for the arts in the Moab community. It is a matter of arts pride that Utah was the first state in the nation to create a state arts organization, and Moab was not too far behind.
The mission of the Moab Arts Council is to promote and support the arts in Southeastern Utah. This is done with the belief and understanding that arts activities, events and education provide for general community well-being while contributing to economic diversity. Salt Lake City Arts Council
The Salt Lake City Arts Council connects artists and the public by producing a number of programs in the performing, visual, literary and folk arts. The City Arts Council also provides grants to a rich and diverse group of programs produced throughout Salt Lake City, ranging from ethnic arts clubs to galleries and studios to major performing arts organizations to literary reading series and to elementary schools that invite artists to work with students in the classroom.
Through the arts, the Salt Lake City Arts Council ensures that Utah's capital city is a vibrant, creative and active community, supporting a comprehensive menu of arts activities for people in every age group and from every background, recognizing that the arts in one form or another provide excitement, challenge and satisfaction to people with a wide variety of interests. South Salt Lake Arts Council
An involved community of neighbors strengthening and supporting the arts by providing the community with several badly needed activities and events including: art, dance, music, and theatre in afterschool programs at local elementary and junior high schools that focus on participation and skill building; a Summer Concert Series consisting of four concerts that celebrate the cultural diversity of the people of South Salt Lake; an Arts Festival that features musical, and theatrical performances, visual arts, displays and contest, culinary arts demonstrations, storytelling, and arts education activities for children. These were all provided by and for the people of South Salt Lake.
The City of South Salt Lake recently took over care of the Pioneer Crafthouse through ZAP funding. The South Salt Lake Arts Council is partnering in the Pioneer Crafthouse project. They are looking forward to bringing more arts programming, participation and energy to the project.
As they move forward, they would like to focus on celebrating the richness and diversity of the community. They believe they have great strength in the many different cultures and ethnicities that call South Salt Lake home. All of their programs will strive to promote this strength through celebrations of local culture by using local contractors and artists whenever possible.
