The Park City Chamber Music Society is one of the oldest arts nonprofit organizations in Summit County. The flagship project of this 501-c-3 organization is the Beethoven Festival Park City, originally founded as the Deer Valley Chamber Music Festival in 1984. As of the July 2016 33rd Summer Season, the Beethoven Festival has presented nearly 700 concerts featuring outstanding international classical solo artists gathered together to perform masterpieces of chamber music for intimate audiences.
In addition to the Festival’s chamber music showcase concerts, the Beethoven Festival regularly performs vibrant recitals for senior facilities throughout Salt Lake and Summit Counties. In 1996 and in 2016 the Beethoven Festival presented chamber music concerts in New York. The 2016 New York concert on the Bargemusic Series coincided with the Utah Symphony’s performance at Carnegie Hall.
Founded by Juilliard-trained violist Leslie Harlow, the Festival is co-directed by acclaimed clarinetist Russell Harlow. The Harlows both direct the Festival and serve as the Society’s Artists in Residence.
The sterling Festival Artist Roster, according the late violinist Joseph Silverstein, continues “includes many of the finest performing artists of our era”.
