About the artist:

Molded in the tradition of other great vocal groups such as Manhattan Transfer and New York Voices, 6 Miles Ahead touts the talents of the Utah’s most gifted jazz vocalists including the former director of BYU’s premier jazz choir, and past musical director of award-winning a cappella group, Vocal Point, as well as nationally acclaimed instrumentalists Jay Lawrence, Lars Yorgason, and Steve Lindeman. Within months of its creation 6 Miles Ahead received a first place finish at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and appeared at the Western Regional IAJE Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The group has also performed and conducted clinics at The Crescent Jazz Festival, The Public Education Foundation Vocal Jazz Festival, and The Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival among others. They have performed alongside jazz greats Joe Beck, Matt Wilson, Darmon Meader, Brandon Fields, Kirby Shaw, Michele Weir, and Lionel Cordew to name a few. Meticulous in their pursuit of vocal excellence, 6 Miles Ahead will leave audiences teeming with energy and bursting with melody.
