Animated! Captivating! Enthusiastic! Storyteller-Singer-Musician! On the wings of song and story, Leticia leads audiences of all ages on a journey into an unforgettable world of creativity and imagination. As a professional performing artist since 1990, she is also an artist educator, experienced in performance, workshops, residencies, teacher training, extended projects, short-term activities, and collaborations with other artists. Leticia believes story listening and storytelling are necessary tools of communication and oral literacy... and students of all experiences and abilities can access storytelling with a creative approach. Leticia's storytelling skills—combined with her warmth, charm and her abilities to express ideas and teach—coax the best out of students. By collaborating with teachers or organizers, participants of all ages are richly rewarded from Leticia's customized residencies. Activities and projects can include creative and imaginary exercises, group storytelling, impromptu storytelling, autobiographical stories, family stories, creative stories, folktale/fairytale/fable retellings, historical stories, etc. Her residencies can include listening, imagining, exploring the traditions in storytelling, playing with story, creativity stimulation, developing oral skills, writing, choosing, learning and performing stories. Educators can learn the application of storytelling skills in various curriculum areas. Families can learn to share through stories.
