    About the artist:

    Jerry Rapier is in his 11th season as Producing Director of Plan-B Theatre Company. A member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, he has directed Plan-B's productions of MOLLY SWEENEY, THE LARAMIE PROJECT, MY LEFT BREAST, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, ANIMAL FARM, PATIENT A, GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!, THE TRICKY PART and SHE WAS MY BROTHER; the Script-In-Hand Series readings of THE NORMAL HEART and A DOLL HOUSE; and the world premieres of AMERIKA (also Toronto's Fringe Festival), FACING EAST (also off-Broadway, San Francisco), EXPOSED (also Utah tour), DI ESPERIENZA (also Utah Shakespearean Festival's New American Playwrights Project), BLOCK 8, WALLACE, AMERIGO and BORDERLANDS. Eight of the productions he's directed for Plan-B have been named 'Best Local Theatre Production' by City Weekly. Other directing credits include SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY for Tributary Theatre; THE LARAMIE PROJECT: TEN YEARS LATER for Kingsbury Hall/Plan-B; SENORA TORTUGA for Youth Theatre at the U; LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! for Wasatch Theatre Company; SNAKEBIT for Pygmalion Theatre Company; I DO! I DO! at the Grand Theatre; THE WATER PROJECT and GO DOG, GO! for Salt Lake Acting Company; ANNIE for Davis Arts Council; and ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, SIDE MAN, THE WHO'S TOMMY and HAIR at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City. In 2007, Jerry was the highest ranking theatre professional (#6) on The Salt Lake Tribune's list of "Utah's Top 25 Cultural Power Brokers." In 2008, he received Salt Lake City's Mayor's Artist Award. In 2009, he was named an Alternative Pioneer by Salt Lake City Weekly. In 2010, he was named on of Utah's Enlightened Fifty by the Community Foundation of Utah. In 2011 he (finally) completed his MFA in Directing and (finally, legally) married his partner of nearly 16 years, Kirt Bateman, a local Equity actor and Executive Director of Davis Arts Council.


    During the 2011/12 season, he will direct the world premieres of LADY MACBETH and THE THIRD CROSSING for Plan-B Theatre Company and the classic THE ADDING MACHINE for the University of Utah's Department of Theatre.
