About the artist:

Artist Statement:

Making photographs and sculpture brings imagination, light, nature, time and space together with a transcendence to reality for me. My photography allows me to make ethereally beautiful natural images depicting the nether realm between reality and obscure reality. Similarly, my direct stone sculptures allows me to explore the essence I see in three dimensions through the permanence of a solid medium. My images and sculptures rarely refer to a specific location or “real” element. They may point to places both distant, and nearby, physically present or ethereal, all the while reaching to engage the viewer more with aesthetic essence than drama. I seek not only to capture the physical realm, but go beyond to expressive interpretation.

Working exclusively in natural light, I emphasize natural surrealism while engaging the emotions evoked by the natural realm, especially the mystery or magical essence of light-play in the world. I personally make all of my photographs and sculptures. I create individual, archival color pigment prints. Finishing my photographs includes museum mattes and solid natural hardwood frames. My sculptures take form using stone and metal, developed through imaginary interpretation.
