Brigham City Museum-Gallery

For almost 40 years the Brigham City Museum-Gallery has offered patrons diverse, quality programming such as the Norman Rockwell Lithographs, Oklahoma Memorial Quilts and Nagasaki Journey. The museum also curated a variety of shows in-house that have had wide appeal, namely Trail of Iron, a photo documentary about the construction of the first transcontinental railroad. The 3,300-square-foot museum has a rotating gallery and a history section. The gallery features about two national traveling shows a year and exhibits by Utah artists, while the history section showcases two rooms circa 1875 as well as artifacts from the museum's and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers' extensive collections. There are also two interactive areas for families - Eliza's Attic and The Homestead, where young people have the opportunity to use pioneer tools.

      05/10/12- 06/28/12	Outside the Homeland: The Intermountain Indian School Exhibit Brigham City Museum-Gallery Outside the Homeland: The Intermountain Indian School Exhibit Presented by Utah Humanities Council at Brigham City Museum-Gallery May 10-June 28, 2012 Now a collection of abandoned buildings, the Intermountain Indian School opened its doors to Navajo students in 1950. The exhibition and accompanying programming will explore the history of the school, including how it came to be, its thirty-odd years of existence, and its demise, as well as the experience of students who attended the school.
      05/10/12- 06/28/12	Outside the Homeland: The Intermountain Indian School Brigham City Museum-Gallery Outside the Homeland: The Intermountain Indian School Presented by Brigham City Museum-Gallery at Brigham City Museum-Gallery May 10-June 28, 2012 After a week of travel that began on foot or on burrow from the depths of the reservation in Arizona, 234 Navajo children stepped off the bus at the Intermountain Indian Boarding School in Brigham City, Utah, on January 11, 1950. Many of the children had just completed their first ride in a motor vehicle and were attending school for the first time even though they were between 12 and 18 years old.
      04/01/11- 12/31/29	Eliza's Attic Brigham City Museum-Gallery Eliza's Attic Presented by Brigham City Museum-Gallery at Brigham City Museum-Gallery April 1, 2011-December 31, 2029 Eliza's Attic is a history exhibit designed especially for kids. Young patrons can view an orchard suspended from the ceiling, open a chest-of-drawers of trials, provide the head for mannequins dressed in Sunday apparel, and watch a chicken and vegetables cooking in a fireplace. Behind a door at the top of two wooden stairs is a life-size photo of Blind Man Jones, one of the first mail carriers in Brigham City.
