    The Ellen Eccles Theatre

The magnificent Ellen Eccles Theatre was built by the Thatcher family and opened in 1923 as the Capitol Theatre. It eventually fell into disrepair, but after a loving restoration it reopened in 1993, and was renamed for a prominent early Logan resident and philanthropist, Ellen Stoddard Eccles. Owned by the City of Logan and managed by the Cache Valley Center for the Arts (CVCA), this Cache Valley jewel is radiant in Edwardian splendor, replete with state of the art technical systems, and is once again one of the finest performing arts facilities in the Intermountain West. Since its restoration, the Ellen Eccles Theatre has become the center of artistic activity in Cache Valley. Many premiere artists including Crystal Gayle, Ballet West, Ailey II, Shirley Jones, The 5th Dimension, Utah Symphony, The Smothers Brothers, Battlefield Band, Kurt Bestor, Linda Tillery, Vienna Choir Boys, and many touring Broadway productions have brought unique performances and diverse cultural enrichment to the extended Cache Valley community. The Utah Festival Opera is in residence each summer and features world famous operas and other musical masterworks in repertory. Local arts organizations such as Cache Valley Civic Ballet, which presents an annual holiday production of The Nutcracker, as well as the Bridgerland Barbershop Chorus, and Cache Regional Theatre also call the Ellen Eccles Theatre home. The Ellen Eccles Theatre is a gathering place for community tradition, a refuge of magic, beauty and delight for all. Cultural arts events flourish in this environment, adding vibrancy and pride to the community.
