    Saint George Town Square

October will be a big month in St. George-big mainly because the redesigned town square is to be completed and dedicated. People have been watching the reworking of the plaza area for many months. The big open space is between the four sandstone buildings-the St. George Tabernacle, the Woodward School, the new Library and the Community Arts Building (the old Dixie College).

Just a few days after the dedication on Wednesday 24 October, 2008 the St. George Book Festival will begin at 7 p.m. in the St. George Tabernacle. Each evening, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, there will also be major events. On Saturday morning and through much of the day there will be multiple sessions held at the Community Arts Center, the St. George Library, the Woodward School and the Washington District School Office. All are on the town square and all events are free and open to the public.

Last year 1500 people attended at least one session of the festival. This year there will be more offerings than last year. The Utah Humanities Council, the Utah Arts Council and the City of St. George are sponsors and invite everyone of all ages, including children and teenagers, to come. There are special sessions for the youth.
