| Think Flat: The Art of Andy Warhol and Takashi Murakami |
Presented by Brigham Young University Museum of Art at Brigham Young University Museum of Art
September 7, 2012-February 18, 2013
The works of Andy Warhol epitomize the notion of thinking flat, championing the "every day" and giving the seemingly low the same consideration as the high. His dream for a future where everyone would become famous for 15 minutes was almost visionary, coming to pass with the proliferation of social networking sites, reality television, and blogs. Japanese artist Takashi Murakami has perpetuated this tradition of rejecting society's dictates of high or low in consumerism, art, and culture in order to disempower hierarchies.
