Now Playing Utah is a charitable service that showcases transformative cultural experiences across Utah. Support is provided by:

Utah Division of Arts & Museums (UDAM) teaching artist.

Chara Huckins started dancing with Virginia Tanner’s Children’s Dance Theatre. She earned a BFA in modern dance from the University of Utah. Chara has taught and performed both nationally and internationally. She is currently performing with Repertory Dance Theatre. Chara is an adjunct professor in the Modern Dance department at Brigham Young University. She also teaches and choreographs for various ages at Children’s Dance Theatre. Chara’s residencies encourage students to use movement as a tool of self expression and a way of communication. Through the creative process, students explore, experiment, and discover another way of learning and understanding educational concepts in a non-threatening environment. Each residency promotes engaging the whole person through movement experiences. Residencies may include creative movement classes, master classes, short-term projects, community workshops, teacher workshops, and choreography for productions. Residencies are customized for the needs of a community or school. Chara enjoys working with all ages, levels, and socioeconomic populations. Available for residencies, teacher workshops, and short-term activities.
