“I have been engaged in exploring how I represent my experiences with anxiety through visual media. I have made paintings which spin, paintings which open and shut like carnival attractions, and installations which seek to conceal all the paintings hidden within. Recently, as someone born and raised in Utah, I have become interested in examining how dominant cultural and religious structures impact people on an individual and internalized basis. Anxieties and self-doubts are inextricably linked to our environments, to the expectations under which we were raised. What sort of imprints do they leave on our souls? And how do we move forward without becoming irretrievably haunted?”
