John Wendling began as a self-taught artist in drawing and painting, who in his early years, worked in acrylics. Later John studied art in college and in the studios of professional artists. During his explorations of artists, John has been greatly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite painters. He views his art as a visual philosopher and conveys this through symbolism and of the expressions in his subjects. John wants his viewers to travel into his works and ponder what is being expressed by the subjects and scenes. He draws his inspirations from poetry he writes and from the conditions he see around him with the relationships in society. “It is magical to be a writer on canvas and to weave a message to the on-looker. Together we can ponder what is being said and both come away with our own views. I am inspired by the body language of people within their surroundings and what is being expressed in their minds-eye.”
