Job Description: Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for public relations, marketing, and social media efforts on behalf of Craft Lake City.
Craft Lake City’s Communications Coordinator is collaborative, interested in local DIY culture, passionate about the nonprofit arts sector, and has a passion for crafting clear and creative messaging for diverse audiences. The Communications Coordinator will become intimately familiar with Craft Lake City’s programming, and will continually innovate and improve upon our ability to create mission-driven communications that resonate with the community. The Communications Coordinator will develop and execute multiple projects simultaneously, requiring the ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities.
-Design short-term and long-term communication strategies that meet organizational goals
-Identifying opportunities to promote Craft Lake City and its programs to new and target audiences
-Updating, maintaining and enforcing the Craft Lake City style guide for consistent messaging and branding
-Collecting and managing data and statistics that measure the success of communication efforts
-Cultivating relationships with local members of the media and serving as a spokesperson on behalf of Craft Lake City when appropriate
-Drafting and distributing press releases and media alerts
-Overseeing social media and blog content on behalf of Craft Lake City
-Coordinating Craft Lake City’s monthly e-newsletter
-Updating and creating content for the Craft Lake City website
-Assisting in the production of Craft Lake City’s printed and digital promotional materials (brochures, videos, flyers, etc.)
-Coordinating the volunteer marketing team for outreach and visibility opportunities in the community
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-A passion for writing and creative storytelling
-Ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines
-A keen eye for detail
-Organized and efficient in ability to document, manage, monitor and track data
-Exceptional customer service skills when dealing with both colleagues and partners
-Experience with workflow and information management tools such as Google Drive, Asana or Airtable a plus
-Ability to respond positively to criticism, to self-reflect, and to change directions when necessary
-Willingness to go above and beyond in order to make things happen
-Direct experience with marketing or public relations would be a plus
-Ability to work 20+ hours per week, with the opportunity of increasing to full-time
-Ability to work extended hours at the DIY Festival from August 9-11, 2019
-Must have your own laptop and cell phone
