The Development Associate of the Utah Shakespeare Festival is responsible for assisting the development department achieve its fundraising goals by engaging directly with donors in all phases of the fundraising cycle including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Activities include building and sustaining donor relationships, supporting grant application planning and execution, donor database management, fundraising event support, community engagement, prospect research, and general support of all activities related to the annual fund, as well as capital and other special campaigns. In addition, the Development Associate supports the Director of Development on all aspects of fundraising.
Primary Responsibilities: 1. Support the Director of Development and the Executive Producer in the development of fundraising plans
2. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive annual fundraising calendar including specific target dates for individual activities detailed in project management software
3. Assist in the calendaring of appointments for the Director of Development, Executive Producer, Artistic Director, members of the Board of Governors, and others as needed
4. Conduct prospect research in all areas of fundraising including attending events, conference and community activities to identify and develop relationships
5. Conduct back-office support including processing donations, managing and maintaining lists in database and other office duties as requested
6. Meet with visiting guests and arrange/conduct backstage tours and interactions with USF artists and organizational leaders, serve as an ambassador to the Festival, including greeting guest in the lobby, at seminars, greenshows, etc.
7. Plan, write and submit grant applications according to project management software schedule
8. In coordination with the Director of Development, help manage special events such as USF Galas (Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Cedar City), on-site fundraising events, spring and fall appeal and assist in the creation of future events
9. Provide written content for development materials as needed
Desired Qualifications: Required Qualifications
1. Two year’s experience in fund raising, preferably in the arts or related field, or equivalent educational training
2. Bachelor’s degree in the arts or related field
3. Experience in developing and managing donor relationships
4. Experience with and knowledge of fundraising software
5. Experience in grant planning, writing, budgeting and reporting
6. Eagerness to work in a high energy, collaborative environment
7. Willingness to frequently work evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications
1. Commitment to relationship building and the development of long term relationships
2. Experience and knowledge of Moves Management
3. MFA in arts administration, or related field
4. 3-5 years professional experience in the development office of an arts organization
5. Coursework or other professional training in fundraising, particularly related to the arts
6. Knowledge or experience in public policy
