NOVA Chamber Music Series is Utah’s oldest Chamber music series, founded in 1977. For the past 45 years NOVA has taken a leading role in the arts community of Utah, providing a venue for Utah artists and audiences to explore the extensive chamber music repertoire.

Presenting eight concerts annually with an operating budget under $200,000, the mission of the NOVA Chamber Music Series is to celebrate the vast chamber music repertoire and Utah’s resident artists through concerts, commissions of new works, educational programs, and recordings.

Description of Position:
The Executive Director of NOVA Chamber Music Series is a part-time contracted Chief Administrative Officer for the organization. As such, the Executive Director supports the artistic mission, policies, and vision of the organization as set forth by the Board and the Music Director(s). In partnership with the Music Director(s), NOVA’s Executive Director is responsible for ensuring outstanding concerts. Responsibilities include budgeting and financial management, ensuring effective marketing, and staff management. Working in tandem with the Board, the Executive Director oversees fundraising planning, implementation, grant writing, and donor stewardship. The Executive Director reports to and attends meetings of the Board, participates in Executive and Finance Committee meetings, and other Board committee meetings as needed. The Executive Director is the face of the organization in the community. This position currently works from home, with the Executive Director located within the community.

Core Responsibilities
Lead the mission and vision of NOVA, as defined by the Board and Music Director(s).
Manage NOVA’s budget to ensure it is a financially viable, sustainable organization with the resources to meet current and projected program needs.
Identify and implement cost-effective ways to deliver state-of-the-art programs.
Identify and cultivate corporate, individual, foundation, and government support.
Support the artistic vision and programming needs of the Music Director(s) and facilitate positive, productive communication between the Music Director(s) and administrative staff.
Advocate for NOVA in the community.
Ensure NOVA complies with relevant state and federal laws, regulations and with standard accounting procedures.
Coordinate with the Board to ensure that Board efforts are well-organized.
Inform the Board regularly of internal organization matters, including relevant staffing, funding and program success and priorities.
Provide leadership and oversight of part-time staff: Manager of Artistic Operations and Finance, and Marketing Manager.

Development Responsibilities
Lead fundraising efforts and donor stewardship.
Support the Board’s involvement in fundraising, personally cultivating and soliciting donors, and implementing fundraising plans and policies approved by the Board.
Develop strong, positive relationships with foundations, government funding agencies, corporations, and individual donors, soliciting program and sponsorship support.
Plan, write and coordinate all grants requests, following through with on-time final reports.
Oversee all aspects of presenting house concert salons, donor events, receptions, and special events.

Financial Responsibilities
Develop a realistic annual budget, making financial decisions consistent with Board approved budget.
Plan for adequate cash flow to cover operational needs.
Work with the Board Treasurer, Finance Manager, and accounting firm to regularly monitor financial activity.
Oversee the Finance Manager to ensure that all job functions are met.

Concert Management Responsibilities
Attend all NOVA performances.
Ensure that concerts provide an outstanding patron experience.
Oversee the Manager of Artistic Operations to ensure high quality concert production and that education and outreach performances meet Board goals.

Marketing Responsibilities
Ensure marketing benchmarks are attained in subscription and single ticket sales.
Create and execute audience development plans.
Oversee Marketing Manager to ensure all agreed duties are accomplished.

Board Responsibilities
Communicate regularly and effectively with the Board.
Provide reports as needed in a timely manner.
Support Board recruitment, working with the Nominating Committee.

General Administration Responsibilities
Ensure that NOVA is managed in a professional manner.
Respond to general written and email correspondence.
Ensure that database(s) for marketing and development are updated and accurate.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in budget management.
Experience in writing grants.
Experience in donor stewardship.
Experience in Arts Administration (minimum of 3 years).
Knowledge of classical music and a love of classical chamber music.
The ability to build a strong and positive organizational culture that promotes the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
A working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, QuickBooks, and Google Drive.

Salary: $20,000 annually
