Job Type: Full-time, Exempt
Hours/Days: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week
Salary Range: $90,000 – $125,000 depending on work experience
Location: SLC, UT (can work remotely 2 days/week)

Its mission is to create an arts-friendly environment in which creativity transforms lives. UCA empowers its members by providing them with business development, data, and increased political access.

Position Summary

The Utah Cultural Alliance is seeking an Executive Director to implement and enhance the organization’s strategic goals, support and sustain fundraising initiatives and programming, oversee programmatic decisions and development, and lead the staff for the successful day-to-day operation of the organization. This individual will build a strong administrative and fiscal structure and manage operations to ensure the future vitality of the organization. They will be a positive role model both within and beyond the organization, prioritizing diversity and collaboration and fostering an organization that is accountable, inclusive, and equitable.

The Executive Director will be expected to maintain, deepen, and build solid relationships with staff, board, public sector stakeholders, donors, artists, and community leaders.

Primary Responsibilities

Board Relations – Fulfills the Utah Cultural Alliance’s mission and vision in collaboration with the UCA/F Board. Coordinates and directs work of the Board’s committees, volunteers, and partner organizations.

Staff Leadership and Management – Provides vision, motivation, best practices, and professional development for all personnel; hires, supervises, and evaluates staff and contractors; coordinates work of volunteers and contractors.

Fundraising – Leads fundraising strategic planning and execution, including foundation, government, corporate, and individual giving.

Strategic Planning – In conjunction with the UCA/F Boards, appropriately develops, modifies, and executes UCA’s strategic plan. Also develops and implements annual goals, action plans, course corrections, and updates as needed to ensure effective execution and results — in collaboration with staff and other appropriate individuals.

Program Development and Outreach – Develops and implements a robust schedule of programs that further UCA’s mission, vision, and strategic plan and that meets the needs of UCA’s members and constituents. Develops strategies to address and increase diversity, equity, access, and inclusion (DEAI) to build cultural literacy, inspiration, equity, and resilience in our statewide communities, and guides marketing and communications strategy.

Fiscal Management – Develops and oversees monthly fiscal reports, and presents an annual budget for Board approval.

Advocacy – Undertakes lobbying efforts on behalf of the cultural industry, in collaboration with partner organizations.

Organizational Integrity – Conducts business at the highest standard of integrity to ensure that all activities are legal and ethical.

Skills and Experience

  • Seven or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
  • Successful management of a team of at least three.
  • Proven fundraising track record. Excellent donor relations skills, understanding of the funding community, willingness to facilitate, lead, and mentor the UCA/F Boards in fundraising activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with member and board recruitment and how to get individuals and groups involved in the organization’s success.
  • Strong knowledge of financials and how to build and communicate transparent financial forecasting documents for the board of directors.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative and inclusive approach to community building and advocacy.
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization.
  • Tech savvy; experience using QuickBooks, CRM, and SaaS platforms is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of senior nonprofit management experience, preferably in the arts, with a history of success in:
    • Fundraising and generating new revenue streams
    • Improving financial results
    • Organizational and membership growth.
