This is a management level job reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning. The responsibilities include supervision of Education Specialists and support personnel; interpretation and implementation of section and USBE policy and programs; oversight of section budgets; and coordination with education institutions, other state agencies, and community organizations to develop and implement joint education programs. The coordinator reviews legislation and gives recommendations regarding the impact it may have on educational programs, prepares reports, statistics, and program analysis.

Principal Duties
As the Fine Arts & BTSALP Educational Coordinator you will typically:
Demonstrate knowledge in arts education, arts integration, and arts administration, including best practices and effective policies of large scale arts education initiatives.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the public school system, including administration, quality instruction, student learning, teacher supervision/mentoring, and professional development.
Supervise Fine Arts team: hiring; determining workload and delegating assignments; training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
All aspects of the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program: budgets, grants, implementation expectations, collaboration with endowed institutions of higher education (IHEs), partnership with arts advocate, Board Rule and legislation revisions.
Ability to form partnerships, collaborate with others and elevate the work of others in the implementation of a statewide initiative.
Engage in strategic planning and implementation by collaborating with stakeholders to set long term and short term goals, create a strategic plan towards those goals, provide leadership for implementation, support the work of others during implementation, collect data and indicators during  implementation, report on the outcomes both verbally and in written form to all stake holders.
Allocate and disseminate funding in fair, equitable and transparent practices.
Revision and implementation of Fine Arts Core Standards: Dance, Film and Media Arts, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
Review of teacher qualifications, including endorsements, for Fine Arts educators
Leadership for Local Education Agency (LEA) Directors of Arts Education aimed at improving the access and quality of arts education.
Oversee the Professional Outreach Program in the Schools (POPS) including evaluation of organization programming, and budget and grant supervision.
Lead the Sorenson Legacy Awards for Excellence in Arts Education through a grant from the Sorenson Legacy Foundation.
Complete all technical reports and draft related material based on research, investigation, or analysis.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a degree or extensive experience in at least one of the arts disciplines and administrative experience. Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
