We are hiring for PART TIME Teaching Artists in the following areas: Music Theory, String (violin, viola, cello), and Percussion. Hours are after school in our El Sistema program, located at Wallace Stegner Academy (980 Bending River Dr. Salt Lake City). Positions may start as early as Summer 2019.

Duties Include:
Providing classroom instruction for students, grades K-9
Implementing curriculum, with an eye toward constant evaluation and adjustment of that curriculum, as needed by students
Curriculum will center strongly on orchestral educational elements
Reporting progress in a timely manner and work toward final outcomes as described in curriculum
Conform to school day norms and expectations
Other as needed

Strongly Suggested Skills:
Professional training in Music
Rigorous theory knowledge
Excellent classroom management skills
Bilingual a HUGE plus (Spanish and English)
Able to work as part of a team
Knowledge of El Sistema model and principles a plus
Dedication to equitable outcomes for all students
Willingness to think about music pedagogy in new and flexible ways

Must maintain own reliable transportation, demonstrate a commitment to thoroughness and punctuality, and communicate professionally and proactively. Pay Rate is $17-20 per hour, DOE

About Salty Cricket
Our after school music program, El Sistema@Salty Cricket, is an immersive experience that helps eliminate barriers to entry to musical study for students who experience them at the highest rates and welcomes all. Based on the internationally renowned El Sistema model, this program seeks to facilitate positive social change through music.Our fully integrated music education provides students with a rigorous music theory, violin, and orchestral experience, with additional enrichment activities to maintain a high level of engagement. The program is provided free of charge for 13 hours weekly, 42 weeks per year.
