Job Description: Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City's flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.

The STEM Building Coordinator will be responsible for producing an engaging, educational and positive experience for exhibitors and visitors in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Building at the 11th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival.

Craft Lake City’s STEM Building Coordinator thrives on the dynamic creativity and innovation of local DIY tinkerers, inventors, educators and STEM organizations in the community. This team member is driven by the inspiration that can “STEM” from outside of the traditional definition of craft. The STEM Building Coordinator will identify, recruit, and manage exciting new exciting exhibitors for the STEM Building at the DIY Festival to ensure a fresh and new experience for DIY Festival visitors. Additionally, the STEM Building Coordinator will develop and oversee workshops, activities and programs to encourage public engagement with science and technology at the DIY Festival.

Responsibilities:
-Planning, recruiting and managing STEM exhibitors for the DIY Festival
-Curating and overseeing DIY Festival STEM workshops, Meet a Scientist opportunities, and other programming
-Handling STEM applicant/exhibitor questions
-Collaborating with Craft Lake City team to announce and notify selected STEM participants
-Invoicing and payment procedures for STEM exhibitors
-Assisting with STEM-related press releases or other related marketing items
-Exhibitor placement in the STEM Building
-Overseeing load-in and load-out procedures for STEM Building
-Serve as the key point person for STEM exhibitors and activities throughout the DIY Festival weekend
-Managing volunteers in the STEM Building
-Creating and sending STEM participant survey and thank-you emails

Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience with event and program management
-Prior experience in STEM outreach program management or STEM education preferred
-Experience managing volunteers is preferred
-Budgeting experience preferred
-Strong skills in networking, outreach, and building meaningful partnerships
-Adaptable and flexible in a nonprofit, event-driven environment
-Excellent communication and writing skills
-Comfortable with public speaking, including media appearances on radio and TV
-Exceptional organizational skills and self-discipline
-Ability to access email 2–3 times a day to check for questions or key information
-Familiarity with Google Drive, Docs, Spreadsheet, etc.
-Must be comfortable working outdoors in the summer months

Requirements:
-Part-time, seasonal contract position, begins immediately upon hiring
-Ability to work in-house at our offices, 10–20 hours per week in spring and early summer, with hours increasing in the months leading up to the DIY Festival in August
-Must be able to commit to week of festival prep and teardown from August 5-13, 2019
-The STEM Building Manager is required to be on-site for the duration of the DIY Festival from August 9-11, 2019
-Must attend most or all staff meetings and production training
-Must have your own laptop and cell phone
