Trailblazer Tunnel Mural Contest

The Trailblazer Tunnel mural project provides artist the opportunity to compete for a chance to create an original art piece that will serve as a front door to Dixie State University. The mural will encompass the entire west entrance to the new Trailblazer tunnel located on 400 S. The application will be open until October 15 at 5 p.m.

We would like each artist to submit a mural design with the inspiration being Dixie State University Trailblazers. Artists must make sure that the mural will be able to stand up to outside weather, i.e., sealant, polyurethane etc., any and all styles are welcomed for submission.

ENTRY RULES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Artists must be at least 18 years of age
Artists must submit samples or images of the proposed mural design with application
Artist must provide 3-5 examples of previous artwork
Entries must be artist’s original work

If accepted, artist’s work must be complete (including weather proofing) by April 1, 2020
A paint and supplies (brushes etc.,) stipend will be provided.

SELECTION PROCESS:
A committee of Dixie State University Faculty and Staff along with the City of St. George will select participants based on the artist’s submissions and the demonstrated strength of the artist’s concept and craftsmanship, as well as originality of the proposed mural.

CALENDAR:
August 27 – Application Submissions open
October 15– Submissions close
November 1 – Artist selected
January 1 – painting begins
April 1 – Mural Completed
