Trails and Natural Lands is searching for driven, enthusiastic Program Assistants to join our team. Program Assistant's will serve as program support and will assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating Trails & Natural Lands events and activities.

In this position you will work up to 28 hours per week or less than 130 hours per month.

Offers of employment are contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with City policy and applicable law.  Criminal offenses will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and do not automatically disqualify a candidate from City employment.

Responsibilities
Works in collaboration with VOE Coordinator to plan, organize, and implement Trails & Natural Lands events and activities, ranging from trail maintenance and habitat restoration projects, to nature-based community programs and recreational activities.
Facilitate activities for a broad spectrum of participants and group sizes
Responsible for organization and management of participant records
Works closely with maintenance, outreach, education and communications personnel to ensure cooperation and communication for Trails & Natural Lands activities.
Serves as a liaison for events between Trails and Natural Lands and community organizations.
Coordinates promotion of activities and recruitment of participants for programs in area of responsibility and as assigned for department wide ventures.
Compiles monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for assigned programming.
Serves as back up to other personnel within the Trails and Natural Lands Program office and assists other professional staff as needed.
Works evening and weekend as needed or assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent plus three years of experience facilitating group activities or working with volunteers.
Working knowledge of natural resource management in Salt Lake City.
Must have reliable transportation to varying job sites. Including trailheads and parks across the City.
Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and troubleshooting abilities.
A growth mindset and passion for learning.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
A passion for conservation and love of Utah’s natural areas.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments.
