WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR OUR SEPTEMBER EXHIBIT "THE 9TH ANNUAL SKATE DECK CHALLENGE"

Submissions are due by August 28th. Blank skate decks are now available at the gallery!

What We’re Looking For

"The 9th Annual Skate Deck Challenge" invites artists to create whatever they want, as long as they use a blank skate deck. You can paint on it, glue plants to it, cut it up and make a sculpture--the possibilities are endless! We're looking for awesome artists of all styles, media, and genres to contribute. The more diverse our show, the better!

How to Submit

First, you'll need to acquire a skate deck. We offer blank decks at the gallery for $30. Buying your deck through us helps support the gallery and the programs of the Utah Arts Alliance. You're also welcome to provide your own deck.

Once you're finished with your piece, deliver it to the gallery before August 28th!

The Contest

On the night of the Salt Lake Gallery Stroll (September 20th), the public will vote for their favorite decks. Five winners will receive prizes, accolades, and will be honored on the main stage of the Urban Arts Festival the following day. Bring your A Game, the competition is always fierce!

FAQ

Q: Does art have to be for sale?

A: We prefer art be for sale, but you may also list pieces as “NFS” or “not for sale”.

Q: How many pieces can I submit?

A: You may submit as many as you’d like. The total number that will be included in the show, however, will depend on the overall number of accepted submissions, and the sizes of the other art pieces that are accepted.

Q: Are there any rules for art in your gallery?

A: The short answer is no. However, we ask that you treat controversial subject matter with good taste. We are located inside a public, family-friendly mall, and as such we reserve the right to reject work that we feel is overly offensive in any way.

Q: Do you only accept artists from Utah?

A: No. If you are from out of state, and if your work is accepted, you will be responsible for shipping charges. It will be your responsibility to ensure that your work arrives to the gallery by August 28th. You must also include a return shipping label with your package. Urban Arts Gallery can NOT guarantee that your work will sell.
