He studied poetry and book arts at The Naropa University in Boulder, CO and received a BS in Typography & Design at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. Rob Chipman – Simplicity on the Other Side of Complexity
Rob Chipman’s Simplicity on the Other Side of Complexity features original reduction linocut prints of landscapes. The process of carving and printing consecutive colors from the same linoleum block, on top of each previous printed layer, is a painstaking and time-consuming printmaking method that requires both right- and left-brain thinking.
While Rob Chipman has been dabbling with block prints since a high school art class, he has only been creating them in earnest for the last five years. Although a late bloomer as an artist, his award-winning work has been exhibited in many juried solo and group shows throughout Utah and the US, as well as several local galleries.
The Finch Lane Gallery is a program of the Salt Lake City Arts Council.
