Armistice Day Week - Talk: "Memories of War and Perceptions of Threat: Facing Asymmetric Warfare 100 Years After the Armistice"

The armistice that brought a close to World War I in 1918 is remembered very differently in the United Kingdom and Western Europe than it is in the United States. One hundred years after the close of that war, divergent national memories of WWI and the armistice contribute to the ways that the US, UK, and Western Europe perceive the new threat of Russian asymmetric warfare. This talk explores the divergence and suggests lessons the US might bear learning from the other side of the Atlantic.
