Art and Animals at Utah's Hogle Zoo

Co-taught by a Hogle Zoo educator and an Art Access artist, this two-day workshop will allow participants to explore through hands-on scientific inquiry and art-making.

AGES: 11-16

Day one will be at Hogle Zoo among the animals. Participants will use all of their senses to better understand animal faces and will begin making newspaper forms for ceramic wall masks based on what they have learned and observed at the zoo. Day two will be in the Art Access workshop. Here participants will finish their mask forms, cover their forms with clay, and through sculpting and adding clay they will create animal masks showing their scientific and artistic understanding
