ARTLandish: Land Art on Film

Documentation, specifically photographic and filmic, was imperative for the Land artists working in remote locations in the 1960s and ’70s. Otherwise, how else could their work be experienced? Here in Utah, we are lucky that we can visit and physically experience Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty (1970) and Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels (1973).
