Charcoal Portraits Workshop

Charcoal Portraits Workshop by Michelle Kurtz

Learn how to create a simple portrait using charcoal and an understanding of light and shadows on the face.

Learn how light and shadows appear on the planes of the face and the forms they make. Then create a portrait using various charcoal mediums (compressed, vine & powdered) and a high contrast photo for reference. This technique is suitable for all skill levels; no previous drawing experience is required. Class size is limited, so register early. Charcoal can be messy, so please dress accordingly.
