Classical Greek Tragedy Hecuba

The 44th Annual Classical Greek Theatre Festival produced by Westminster College will mount and tour a production of Euripides’ dark tragedy, Hecuba, a play rarely read and seldom performed.

Hecuba is thought to be Euripides’ bleakest tragedy. A daughter is sacrificed, a son is betrayed, and a mother takes revenge. Written in 424 B.C., Hecuba is set after the brutal end of the Trojan War as the Greeks prepare to return home after sacking Troy.
