COOKED: SURVIVAL BY ZIP CODE

Free screening of the documentary COOKED: SURVIVAL BY ZIP CODE and post-film Q&A with director Judith Helfand moderated by Salt Lake Tribune movie critic Sean P. Means.

In 1995, 739 Chicago residents – most impoverished, elderly, and black – died in one hot July week. The infamous heat wave became a case study in the relationship of poverty to the effects of disaster, where deaths correlate to ZIP codes, and kicked off a new understanding of disaster politics.

Directed by Judith Helfand (A Healthy Baby Girl, Blue Vinyl), who will be in attendance for a post-film Q&A.
