David Park & Friends

DAVID H PARK, ‘a soloist with extraordinary artistic gifts’, (Pulitzer Prize winner-Salt Lake Tribune), ‘that commands respect…of the highest order,’ (Le Journal Sud Ouest, DN), started playing the violin at the age of five in Seoul, Korea. Park has studied with two of the most distinguished pedagogues, Josef Gingold and Dorothy Delay. He received his Bachelor of Music at the University of Indiana, where he also studied with Yuval Yaron, and Master of Music at the Juilliard School. At the age of 14, he was one of the youngest students of the legendary Jascha Heifetz.

Park maintains a balance between his engagements as soloist with orchestras throughout the world and his recital and chamber music activities. Park has performed solos and recitals in many of the world’s great concert halls including Carnegie Recital Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, Salle Pleyel in Paris, and Sejong Music Center in Seoul. Park has also performed on national television and radio broadcasts in the United States, France, Hong Kong and Korea. Park was featured on KUTV CBS News; where according to the website blog, his performance brought tears to the news anchor, commenting ‘so pure and perfect.’ In 2013, Strings Magazine featured Park in an exclusive interview.

Some of Park’s highlights include his first return to Seoul, Korea, performing the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole with the Seoul Philharmonic. Park made his New York debut performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Carnegie Weill Hall. Also, making his debut in Aix-en-Provence Music Festival, he performed both solo and chamber music in collaboration with Augustin Dumay which was broadcasted nationally by France Musique, the premier classical radio station in France. In a highly anticipated Cultural Exchange Gala Concert, Park soloed with the Pyongyang State Orchestra of North Korea. Recently, he soloed with orchestras in Virginia, California, and Hong Kong. Furthermore, Park has presented rare series of concerts pairing Stradivari and Guarneri del Gesu violins with critical acclaim.

In 2016, Park received an award for Higher Education of the Year by Utah ASTA, where Finer Points proclaimed him as ‘one of the best violin soloists and music pedagogues in the nation.’ Furthermore, he received the coveted Global Music Award for his debut solo Cd, Violin Meditations. In 2020, his debut Kreisler album with Centaur Records was sold-out in the first week of the release, and editor of American Record Guide remarked ‘this is the most brilliant Kreisler recording I know.’ In 2021, Park will perform concertos of Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Beethoven, and Vivaldi Four Seasons at St George, Los Angeles, and New York. Also, 2021 will mark his London debut playing on a Stradivarius from Beare’s International Violin Society. In 2022, Park will be performing the Bruch Scottish Fantasy and Vivaldi Four Seasons with orchestras in California and New York and give a recital in France. Also, Park will release his 2nd album with Centaur, ‘David Park and Friends.’

A True Renaissance Man’ (Salt Lake Tribune), in 2019, Park was appointed to be the Cultural Ambassador of Ferrari. In 2011, Park’s passion for fine wine culminated in his induction as Commander of Honor in Bordeaux, France, for one of the world’s oldest wine societies, Commanderie du Bontemps. In 2015, Park made his acting debut and also performed Massenet’s Meditation Thais and Bach’s Air for the soundtrack of the movie. The movie was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and released in theaters nationwide.
