Generation & Apprehension: Drafting, Crafting, Fearing, and Finding New Work

Writers at Work is hosting a day-long generative workshop with Kirstin Scott, author of Motherlunge. The title is GENERATION & APPREHENSION: DRAFTING, CRAFTING, FEARING, AND FINDING NEW WORK.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

“The writer must be a psychologist, but a secret one…” Ivan Turgenev

In this workshop we’ll create new work from prompts and investigate our drafts for the ‘tells’ that signal what is most compelling to develop. We’ll also talk about craft, process, and meaning—these prompts should not only spur writing but also allow for the conversations every writer needs to have with other writers. This workshop is for experienced writers and new writers and the instructor herself; it offers structures and stimuli to help open us to fresh possibilities and discoveries. Let’s work and talk together! Bring pencils, paper, and a copy of a favorite paragraph from a book you’ve read.
