Irish Rising Film Series: Michael Collins

“THE IRISH RISING!” is the theme for this year’s observance of the annual festivities celebrating the Feast of St. Patrick. We chose the theme not only to commemorate the week 100 years ago when Irishmen and Irishwomen made a stand “supported by her exiled children in America,” but in order to celebrate the flowering of Irish self-sufficiency, arts, language and culture that paved the way for the rebellion and continues to this day. We hope you can join us at many of the artistic, historical and simply fun events during our three-month Irish Rising Festival. 

Our Irish Rising Film Series presents old and new films that touch on the events 100 years ago that led to freedom, a terrible Civil War and a 100 year legacy. Films include Ryan’s Daughter, A Terrible Beauty, Michael Collinsand the classic Jimmy Cagney vehicle Shake Hands with the Devil. Screenings take place at 7:30 p.m. at Judge Memorial Auditorium and the Weber County Library.
