Irish Workers on the Transcontinental Railroad in Comparative Perspective

Presentation and Q&A by Dr. Barry McCarron, Faculty Fellow, Center for Irish and Irish-American Studies, New York University.

Born and raised in Ireland, Dr. McCarron earned his Ph.D. in history from Georgetown University (2016) and holds a Bachelors (2004) and Masters (2004) degrees from the University College Dublin, and has held research fellowships from the Universities of Melbourne and Oxford. McCarron’s work focuses on the global Irish and Chinese, in the U.S., the British Empire, and the broader Pacific world.
