Labeled Fest for Mental Health

Labeled Fest is a series of ideas and advocacy events focusing on ending the stigma in mental health, disability, developmental, recovery and other marginalized issues through films, ideas and interactions.

Come on out and help end stigma in mental health together. We’ve got an incredible program planned! Join us in person or virtually.
WHAT? Labeled Fest for Mental Health - Multi Media ideas and advocacy fest. WHERE? Alliance Theater, Trolley Square, SLC, UT. WHY? To end stigma in mental health.

The events within the fest are as follows. Doors open at 5pm. Please be ready for your section 15 mins before start time.

6pm - 7pm Create Perspective Workshop with Josh Samson. - Pick an object from everyday life and begin to create it’s story from an outsider looking in and from the object looking out. Introducing elements within creative interpretation through visual arts. Mindfulness, emotional awareness and positive psychology will also be infused to enhance student’s engagement of creativity and their surroundings. Participants will learn to use images and symbols to tell their stories discovering new pathways to communication, wellness and transformation while creating a story piece using elements introduced during the workshop.

7:15pm - 7:45pm Crying with Laughter & Brian Higgins. - Weaving true stories of struggle, mixed with imagery and soundscapes, this storytelling presentation-with-a-twist is sure to change how people see mental health. Focusing on the power of laughter and the benefits comedy can bring to your mental wellness. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll walk away with positive tips to implement in your own journey. Pull back the curtain and step inside the mental health universe with this interactive trans-media storytelling experience. Part Keynote, Part Presentation, All Inspiring. Laughter is the best medicine?

8pm - 9pm Labeled Films. - A series of curated films designed to inspire and motivate through lived experience.

Hyper Active Cory knew he was different. he embarks on a quest to learn how several friends with disabilities continue to cope and how their journeys might impact his own.

Time To Re-Wonder A creative response to the current global situation. The potential mental health fallout from this pandemic is immense so we need to foster an outlook of hope to counteract fear.

Fraser Syndrome & me Kyle Anne Grendys, is only the 75th person to be born with this rare, recessive gene disorder. Having always felt alone in the world, she sets out to find her community and finally meet others like her.

THE ESCAPE Left alone lying on the bed overwhelmed with her hallucinations and memories. another girl unexpectedly appears trying to bring

PARKING INFO

PARKING is free and available in the 600 South parking lot and along the 700 East buildings. There is also parking along building A in front of Alice Lane and building B in front of Pottery Barn. We also have an underground parking garage that is accessible along the corner of 500 South and also on the corner of 600 East. There is roof access parking on the 500 South/700 East corner above Whole Foods.

HANDICAP PARKING is available throughout Trolley Square. If you are in need of a wheelchair, please call the Trolley Square Security Office at 801-534-0160 and they will bring a wheelchair to you. (rental is free)
